Jazz Music

Maceo Parker, deeply influenced by the godfather of the saxophone, James Brown, plays jazz with a little bit of some good, funky old-fashioned R & B music, whose music is much appreciated and enjoyed here in SA.
It was a little difficult to get one’s hands on his CD, “Roods Revisited”, in the past, but one can easily get hold of it now.
The band consists of organ player, Don Pullen, tenor sax player, Pee Wee Ellis and drummer Bill Stewart as well as Fred Wesley, trombonist, guitarist Rodney Jones and bassist Bootsy Collins.
The DVD “My First Name is Maceo” includes interviews with the musicians, but what beats everything hands down is the excellent music on this DVD.
Simply close your eyes and picture yourself in a church in The Deep South of the USA; you will be excused for clapping your hands and stomping your feet to the “groovy”, swinging beat.
A combination of soul and up-beat music makes the music of this jazz music perfect for all types of listening, and if you are a lover of jazz music the DVD will suit you perfectly.
‘Chaos with a Groove” aptly describes the DVD to perfection. If you love jazz, then this will satisfy your palate to perfection.
